Our Difference

Galen offers the widest curriculum in Wangaratta with a variety of curriculum options, including work experience, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, VCE and VCAL programs, University and TAFE courses, pathways into university courses, and employment opportunities.

The school has taken the opportunity to lean into the ever-expanding tourism with links to industries, local businesses, and tourism authorities. This further complements its pathways as students complete practical courses such as hospitality, which can lead to positions in regional restaurants, hotels, and wine industries.

As a regional school community, Galen Catholic College has taken the opportunity to develop agricultural courses that align with the region’s major farming industries, which have traditionally been beef, dairy, and cropping. This is represented in its learning program, and moving forward, the college has established a 1-hectare vineyard which will eventually have the students growing and producing wine with the local vignerons.
